Piotr Wojciechowski about the album: I did not know Piotr Cieśla, nor did I encounter his work, since he exhibits all too infrequently. But Cieśla read my books, and suggested that we collaborate on his album on Poland. When I saw his photographs I was enchanted. I simply did not know that landscape photography could be turner into such a personal, even intimate, means of expression. I was astounded by the simplicity of that pictorial poetry and its spirituality - devoid of any ostentation. I knew these photographs should not be explained. I endeavoured, therefore, that my texts should run alongside them, but as close as possible. I tried to express in words not what the photographs represent, but what manifests itself when we look at them.
